Introduction to Léo Gaumont

Léo Gaumont

This website is the home of the unique and encouraging educational ministry of Léo Gaumont. Léo has experience and vision that make him stand out among home education leaders. His many years as a public school teacher and his passion to provide a consistently Christian pathway for home educators give him a distinctive role in the home education community.

This website contains helpful materials for home educating parents, researchers and others who are just curious about the fastest growing educational trend in North America. Watch the videos, listen to the audio messages, and read the articles to learn how Léo’s perspective can aid your own home education experience and encourage you in this task.

There’s a sense in which Léo can be viewed as Canada’s version of John Taylor Gatto. Gatto was New York City Teacher of the Year in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and New York State Teacher of the Year in 1991. He then promptly quit the public system and began writing books and speaking out to promote home education and unschooling. This has had a tremendous impact in educational circles in the United States because Gatto knows the system inside and out so he speaks with considerable authority. Léo also knows the system inside and out from his many years as a public school teacher. His experience reinforces his strongly held view that home education is the best option for parents who want to follow God’s plan for the family.
